Hair Advice to Perfect Your Hair

by Jim Jawnson

Think of models, your most beautiful friend, your fave celebrity, and the Biblical hero Samson. What do they have in common? Most likely, a gorgeous, healthy head of hair. When your hair looks great, your whole appearance is improved. Many people think the only way to enviable tresses is through expensive hair appointments or costly products or naturally having the best hair color. There are natural, easy-to-do steps to getting the healthy hairdo you want.

For shiny, healthy hair think first of your body's intake. Your hair is really just a reflection of what you are inside. A good balanced, nutritious and healthy diet will do more to make your hair shine than any shampoo or conditioner. And drink eight to ten glasses of water a day too; hair is 25% water.

When drying your hair after washing, use a towel to soak up the water. Avoid rubbing your head, which can pull and add tangles. Avoid using a hair dryer, flat iron, curling iron, or hot rollers, which can burn your hair, leaving it dry and brittle.

We mentioned yanking your hair with a comb; your brush or comb has a major impact on your hair's health. Try using a wide-tooth comb when you have wet hair. Brush from the end to the root, without touching the root, so you don't damage the follicles.

Remove trichoptlosis, or split ends, like this: take small sections of your hair and carefully twist them in a gentle downward motion. The split ends will stick out. Using sharp scissors, carefully cut into the twisted section, but not right through, to remove the damaged cuticles and leave a natural layered look. Cut roughly the same amount from each twist to balance the effect.

When you notice your hair is thinning, you'll need to act against your hair loss through good nutrition. Consider taking biotin, which can regenerate hair follicles. You can make a smoothie from bananas, yogurt, honey, and low-fat milk, which will give you the minerals and nutrients to encourage hair growth and strength. Other vitamins such as zinc, saw palmetto, and vitamin B6 can also boost growth. Aside from nutrition, take steps to lower your stress level and get more sleep.

Each of the steps above will make a positive difference to your hair and overall health. Taking care of yourself will reflect in your appearance, and you'll make a better impression than ever before. It's up to you to have best at home hair color, health.
